Production Log 4. 5/2/10 – 19/2/10

From 5/2/10 we began our pre-production documents needed for our film. First of all we created the script. We created two versions of the same story as we had different ideas of how the events could unfold. Harry created one in-depth script, whilst me ad Darrell the other. After carefull consideration and opinions of others, we have chosen to go ahead with the latter. This was purely because of the feedback and the ordering of the clips made more sense.

With the script sorted, the next lesson we created the storyboard. This was pretty simple as it was the same scenes as the script but without dialogue and with drawings for each scene showing what each shot type will be e.g. long shot.

We then created a list of props needed. This included a hammer (for the killing), ketchup (for fake blood), a sofa and a TV. Luckily, this was all present at Harry’s house already so therefore was ready when needed at filming.

The cast then needed to be selected. We all decided that we would each have a part in the film, I would be the killer, Darrell the detective and Harry the news reporter. We then needed to find a female who was willing to play this victim role. Harry’s sister was willing to which fit well.

After this, we had to find a suitable location to film. As it the scene is in a house, it would need to be filmed in one of our own homes. After taking under consideration the suitability and availability of each house we decided that Harry’s house would be most convenient.

After getting all the forms signed by the relevant people such as location release, personal release and risk sheets we were ready to film.
